When you hear critter, you probably don't think cute, but I am here to show you that you are wrong! Just look at these little guys? The first critter I made was for a baby shower, to go with a little car seat blanket. The theme for the shower was duckies, so how could I resist the chance to make some cuddly crochet ducks? The answer is of course I couldn't! Once I got started I couldn't stop. These little guys are so much fun to make! Plus the options for colors and personalities are nearly endless! I think they are a great alternative to a store bought stuffed animal. They are made just for the recipient, and as such they can be customized in favorite colors and looks! Have you seen any other flirtatious orange octopuses? I didn't think so.
After I had made a bunch of the little critters, I wanted a new challenge, because that's how I roll. I decided to make a 'lovey', a combination of part stuffed animal part blankie. This led to the Happy Hippo Lovey. What is great about this pattern is I can change up the colors for the blanket part to anything you want! I can also change out the stuffed animal part, but then I don't think we should call it the Happy Hippo any more.
I've also made a cat and an elephant plus a pair of baby chicks. You can see them all together in the gallery.
I hope y'all think they are as cute and as much fun as I do! Do you have someone in your life that could use a little bit of cheer and whimsy in their life? Sure you do! Contact me and we can get to talking on your own custom critter!
